It started with karate as a very small kid. As a teenager I went through kendo, kempo karate, judo and sanda, then arrived at a mix of Japanese Jiu-Jitsu, MMA, Vale Tudo and Luta Livre. I moved to Santiago for better training, travelled to Brazil three times to train, coached in Hong Kong for four years, and earned my black belt back in Chile. Today I run Arkain Grappling in Saigon with two co-founders, and teach seminars and consult for academies abroad. ## What he offers gyms and coaches I don't just come in for one class. I look at what your academy does well and where it fails, and help you get better at both. - **Seminars** (for your students): A focused block on one theme, built around the level of the room on the day. - **Consulting** (for your academy): An analysis of your academy's fails and strong points from a Jiu-Jitsu point of view, and a plan to get better at both. - **Privates** (for you and your coaches): One-to-one sessions and knowledge-sharing with head coaches. ### Example seminar topics - **Building classes that fit the room**: For coaches and owners. How to read a group and plan a class around the people who actually showed up. - **Constraints-led training**: How we use CLA at Arkain: games and constraints that teach the position without a lecture. - **Guard: playing from the bottom on purpose**: Retention, frames and the first sweeps that make guard a place to attack from. - **Passing that survives resistance**: Simple passing systems that hold up against people trying to stop you. ### Where he has taught and trained - Vietnam: Saigon, Hanoi, Da Nang, Nha Trang, Dalat - Chile: All around the country - Cambodia: Phnom Penh - Thailand: Seminars - Hong Kong: Kowloon Jiu-Jitsu, Inglorious Grapplers and more - Spain: Barcelona - USA: California ## Background - EARLY YEARS · Temuco · Many martial arts · STUDENT: Karate as a small kid.
